About Us
A Jewish Community Welcoming All
A synagogue is more than just a House of Prayer or a House of Study. It is the center of the Jewish community; a spiritual home where people come together and form bonds that last a lifetime.
Congregation B’nai Sholom-Beth David has been filling that role in Rockville Centre, Lynbrook and surrounding communities for more than a century. Throughout the years, we have fostered in each of our members a special camaraderie and feeling of great pride in our Jewish heritage. Many families have been members for more than three generations, a testament to their love and respect for our Congregation.
We are an egalitarian congregation, affiliated with United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, where men and women participate in all aspects of religious life. In addition, we are inclusive, welcoming all who seek a connection to Jewish life and wish to join our Temple community, regardless of religious background, age, ability, socioeconomic status, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Interfaith families, members of the LGBT community and people exploring Judaism will discover at Congregation B’nai Sholom – Beth David a warm atmosphere. Our members are as diverse as the communities in which we live. We are a place where you can develop a meaningful connection to Judaism.
Learning
Congregation B’nai Sholom – Beth David teaches Jewish values that inspire Jewish living and encourage children in their Jewish education. Our educational programs are first-class. We have one of the finest religious schools on Long Island and a robust adult education program. Our goal is to provide for a lifetime of Jewish learning. We also host a sizable library and media center, where members may check out materials at no charge.
Prayer & Worship
Our clergy - Rabbi David Lerner, Cantor Alexandra Wesier, and Ritual Director Richard Perlbinder - make sure that services are uplifting. We offer a full retinue of prayer services, not only on Shabbat and the holidays, but Sunday and weekday mornings and evenings, as well.
At Congregation B’nai Sholom-Beth David we are proud of our heritage and we look forward to an exciting future. We are committed to opening our religious home to all. We hope we will become your home, as well.
Location, Location, Location
Congregation B’nai Sholom – Beth David is situated in one of the best places in the New York metropolitan areas to live, work and raise a family. The communities we serve have some of the finest public schools on Long Island. There are ample housing choices for families at all stages: from newlyweds seeking their first home to growing families needing more space to empty nesters and retirees looking to downsize.
Ocean beaches, shopping malls and sports and entertainment venues like the Nikon Jones Beach Theatre, Nassau Coliseum and Citifield are a short drive away. Rockville Centre’s walkable downtown offers fine shopping and a thriving nightlife scene, too. Kosher restaurants and food stores abound in the nearby Five Towns, West Hempstead and Long Beach. We are also close to major highways and airports and enjoy fast, frequent rail service at all hours to Manhattan and Brooklyn. Come pay a visit and see if we are right for you.
